Christopher Smith is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at OmniStar Financial Group. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations. Chris has managed portfolios for institutional and High Net Worth clients for over 25 years . He brings a strong background in economics, research, asset allocation, risk management and a global perspective on stocks.
Chris will lead the investment team at OmniStar in developing our economic outlook, formulating our capital markets assumptions, setting the asset allocation mix and building our select equity portfolio strategies.
Markets offer Chris the opportunity to continuously learn and the intellectual challenges that come with balancing the risk/return proposition that markets impose on portfolios.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Chris and his wife (Kelly) chose to make the United States their home, landing in the Carolinas.
Chris is the proud father of five children (4 daughters and a son) and speaks French fluently. He enjoys fitness, days at the beach, grilling and car racing.
Chris and Kelly are avid travelers who love to arrive in a new place with no agenda and just explore.
